RetroRadio - Let There Be Country
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00AM to 1:00PM Eastern Time HD1
RetroRadio - Let There Be Country (LTBC) is the longest running country music show in the New York radio market. It is the only program completely dedicated to the true American art form known as classic country music. LTBC plays everything from Jimmie Rodgers to Joe Diffie and everything in between. Started by the late Paul Bain over 35 years ago, the tradition is being carried on in the 21st Century by Country Kenny O’Boyle every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-1pm EST.
In addition to the great classic country music, Let There Be Country features a “This Day In Country Music History Segment” and “The Country Calendar” with the latest information on live country music in the NY/NJ/CT Metro Area. Also, LTBC regularly holds concert ticket giveaway contests and interviews with some of the biggest names in country music. Notable guests include: Merle Haggard, Scotty McCreery, Ashley Monroe, Lyle Lovett, Kenny Rogers, Kathy Mattea, Charlie Daniels, Ray Benson, Vince Gill and many more.
About Kenny -
If you were to tell Kenny O’Boyle that he was going to be the host of the longest running country music show in the New York Radio Market, he would have told you that you’re crazy.
Kenny graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with his B.A. in Communications in 2010 and his M.A. in Professional Communications and Media Studies in 2011. It was at F.D.U. when he first stepped foot inside of a radio station. If you asked Kenny’s parents, they would tell he has loved attention ever since he was a baby. So, a chance to be on the air at WFDU would be perfect for the soon to be “Cowboy Kid.”
After taking Duff Sheffield’s radio course, Kenny was ready to hit the airwaves. He started substituting for any show on the station that needed it. As it turned out, Country Kenny had a keen ear for classic country (Say that five times fast). Eventually he became a regular on Let There Be Country and in 2009 it was time for him to officially take the reigns.
